Pullman Land Association Sale of Property

File consisting of surveys and several pieces of correspondence from 1930 to 1931 between the Pullman Land Association, the Michigan Central Railroad and the Pullman Trust & Savings Bank regarding proposed sale of land to the railroad. This land was adjacent to land purchased by the railroad in 1917. The land (5.762 acres) was to be sold for $2,850 per acre plus $1,159 for the proportionate part of a special assessment for paving 130th Street. Due to business downturn, the sale was never made. Full record available for viewing at the Bertha Ludlam Reading Room in the Hotel Florence.

Pullman Standard 100,000th PS-1 Boxcar

Record of the construction of Pullman-Standard's 100,000th PS-1 boxcar in 1962. The first boxcar, using a new standardization program, was built at its Michigan City plant in 1947. The record includes press releases, correspondence, approximately 60 builder's photographs of the construction of the car, the finished car with company executives, and the original boxcar.
